NHL

This year, the Stanley cup playoffs have been not been what people have expected at all, the fact that 4 #1 teams in all the divisions of the league couldn't make it to the conference finals is why I think this wasn't predicted. Anyway, in game 1 and 2 the Rangers were leading 2-0 in the first period but lost to the Kings in overtime. And in game 3, the Kings scored 3 unanswered goals and won the game giving them a 3-0 lead in the series. However, in game 4 the Rangers won 2-1 and got a few lucky bounces along the way. But in game 5, the Kings won the cup on home ice because of a good goal by Alec Martinez in double overtime. And the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy goes to Justin Williams who scores the most goals in the Finals. And the Kings have now won 2 Stanley cups in 3 Seasons. Story By Robert.D

NBA

The finals have been around for lots of years, and for the second year in a row the Spurs and Heat met in the finals. And also for the second year in a row the series was tied 1-1 heading to game 3. This year in game 3, NBA finals records were broken when Spurs set a record field goal percentages with 76% shooting from the field, and that gave the Spurs the win and a 2-1 series lead just like last year's finals when Danny Green set a record for three pointers in a single game. And in game 4, the Spurs won by over 20 points giving the Spurs a 3-1 lead. And in game 5 the Spurs pulled away and won their 5th title in franchise history. Also the Finals MVP is Kawhi Leonard who is now officially the youngest to win the MVP in history. Story by Robert.D

PGA
This year's U.S Open took place from June 12-15. And for the third year ever, it was held at a course called Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina. In 1999, Payne Stewart won, also in 2005 Michael Campbell won. This year's winner is Martin Kaymer who in the Open for a score had -9. Story By Nick.P

MLB

Hi! I'm Nick.P and I'm here to talk about baseball. Our topic this week is the best tear in baseball. Now, of course when you think of the best team in baseball, the San Francisco Giants are what comes to mind. But with their great comeback this season, we must consider other teams that have done the same. All stats are from ESPN and the MLB Power Rankings. Let's start with the Giants. They have been on a downward spiral for the past couple years, but great pitching and some clutch offense have turned them back into the World Series champs that they were a couple years ago. The A's are not a surprise but their run differential is through the roof which could show a sign of a deep playoff run. The Blue Jays are living up to the hype from last year and Ryan Braun is helping the Brewers this year. The Angels are back and better then ever. The Tigers have responded well since the Prince Fielder trade and the Braves have been slowly finding ways to win games. The Nationals are doing the same as the Braves and will gain speed hopefully as the season goes on. The Mariners are gonna have to find ways other then King Felix to win because if they keep riding him like that he could get injured and Robby Cano can't do everything. The Dodgers have spark plugs and they have been electric. These are the top 10 according to ESPN Power Rankings. I think in the long run the A's will be the best team in the playoffs assuming no monumental collapses happen.

Tune in next week for more news. Plus, at the end of the article, we will get a word from a local celebrity.
